In general, the SLCTA/CU is the certified
bargaining agent for all instructional
personnel and all clerical and paraprofessionals
In Florida , collective bargaining is
a right of public employees governed by
the Public Employees Relations Commission.
However, Florida is also a "right to work"
state which means that employees can choose
whether or not to belong to the union
that bargains for them. Approximately
70-80% of all eligible St. Lucie County
School Board employees are union members.
The SLCTA/CU is NOT obligated to represent
bargaining unit members who are not union
members. Our motto is "We work for YOU",
and our members know that we are only
a phone call away. |
